The 2-Year Stats

We went to the pediatrician for the 2-year well visit on Monday. I was worried that Joshua would be the same (or worse, lower) weight than at the 18-month visit, since he seems to hardly eat. Good news is that he is, in fact, bigger, though not by much.

Joshua:
24 lbs. 6 oz. (+1.5 lbs.)
33.5 inches tall (+1.25 inches)

Justin:
28 lbs. 6 oz. (+4 lbs.)
35.75 inches tall (+2 inches)

The doctor said to eliminate all snacks (!) between meals, which we did yesterday and today and so far there has been no mutiny. This is an effort to get Joshua to eat more at mealtimes. And even though Justin is higher up the percentile scale, she says he is still on the thin side, so eating real food instead of crackers and applesauce should be good for him too.

We also talked about potty training, she said to wait until they’re ready, not rush it. I mentioned our little diaper-removal thing, to which she said, “Just put their diapers on backward.” Ha! I laughed and told her all the many, many things we have tried. After rattling off that whole list, she just said. “Well, good luck.” Yeah, thanks.

The best part, no shots. And no more checkups until they’re 3. I couldn’t bring myself to make that appointment though, since it is a year away. I do assume that we will be back there before a year though, just a hunch.
