Preschool Apples Week Recap
Apple week started out Monday with an outing to a local apple orchard to pick our own apples. The week’s activities focused around the bag of apples we picked and no more fitting day than Labor Day, I think, to employ some toddler labor to pick some fruit. Like anything with toddlers, we were not sure how much they would enjoy it or if they would even want to do it at all. Turns out they LOVED it. Like all week whenever we load them into the car Justin asks, “Pick Apples?” Together we picked a Peck of Apples, which was more than enough for snacking, two Pies and homemade applesauce. Below is a small sampling of the more than 100 photos I took at the Orchard. Also, our pie-making adventure. And yes, the pie was awesome. Now when I ask the boys what they want for snack, they no longer say crackers, they say Apple Pie.
We had a great day, fabulous weather and tons of fun picking apples together as a family. The boys loved eating the apples and the pie and the applesauce they helped make. And we all got to eat Apple Cider Donuts and sip warm cider at the orchard, so Apple Week was perfect.

Looks like you guys had a great time! We took our boys to pick strawberries for the first time this year and they loved it. There is nothing better than eating fresh fruit off the vine. For a while afterwards every time we ate strawberries the boys would ask if they were the strawberries they had picked. :)
Though there was a learning curve not to smash the strawberries. We will have to see if our orchard has apples now and down low enough fo the kids to pick them. Since we are still in 100 degree weather I hadn’t even thought to check.
